Upgrades to computer equipment is covered further down this page.
Computer Upgrades in Tenerife.
New drives, memory or whatever, we can upgrade your pc into a new high-speed machine.
Check with a professional before you start
Just because a friend had no problems with a particular upgrade, doesn't mean the same upgrade will go well for you.
Small differences between one computer's hardware, and its installed programs will decide success or failure.
Before upgrading, talk to the experts, well-intentioned upgrades can turn into 'downgrades! and into disasters,
so it pays to carefully consider a few trade axioms -
If it's not broken - Don't Fix It!
Advertising hype to run a program that your machine doesn't support, considerer the situation carefully.
If you 'must' be able run a new cutting edge program, buy a more suitable computer, and keep your
working machine as a good working backup.
If it is broken - Don't Upgrade It!
Upgrading a poorly running computer seldom fixes any problems, fix the root problem. Many so-called computer repair
programs can cause more problems than they fix.
Backup your important data
If you have a standard 'one-hard drive' computer, we cannot overstate the importance of backing up your data before.
upgrading 'anything', in fact, before even disconnecting cables or removing the covers.
Major upgrades can be major work.
Major upgrades, like a new motherboard, require great care, any may require a complete reformat and reloading
of your data and programs to the drive.
Windows and other systems integrate closely with the motherboard and replacing it without properly
reconfiguring everything may leave you with a very unstable computer.
DIY upgrades.
Before you take the cover off to add/change that new WiFi card, drive, or other hardware to your computer, read the advice
below which may help you avoid a number of issues that can make or break your computer hardware upgrade.
Anti-Static measures If you do not know what these are or why they are required, or don't understand the implication of ESD
(Electro-static Discharge), DO NOT attempt to remove the covers and handle components, even if the power is off.
Many processors and other chip can be destroyed with ESD voltages as low as 30 volts.
Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) Note that if the equipment uses a CRT, this will retain voltages in excess of 30,000 volts even when
the unit is disconnected from the main supply, requiring careful discharge before work commences.
Power Supplies (PSU) If the equipment is completely 'dead' or has other symptoms that suggest a PSU problem, UNPLUG
the unit from the mains supply, and do not attempt 'to repair' it, modern switched-mode powers supplies are not
economically/feasibly repairable, change the PSU unit.
Compressed Air Cleaning Dust is a terrible problem for computer in Tenerife, especially for internal fans. DO NOT go
to you nearest garage and use there 'tyre' air pressure compressor, (1) The pressure is very high and you run the risk of
'over-speeding' and thus killing the fan, and more importantly (2) the air from these compressors is not de-humidified, hence
will contain much water vapour and you will simply 'wet' the internal electronics of your equipment.
